EFDN named a finalist for ‘AWS Quality of Life Award’

EFDN is proud to announce that our Healthy Football League has been selected as a finalist for the ‘AWS Quality of Life Award’ that is part of the ‘AWS City on a Cloud’ Innovation challenge. Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Intel have launched ‘City on a Cloud’, a competition that recognises the leaders who are shaping society.

The category ‘Quality of Life’ includes public sector leaders from all across the world who are helping their community adapt and build resiliency. Among the finalists are organisations that provide solutions for digital government, education, justice and public safety, healthcare, charities, or nonprofit. We are proud to be a finalist and keep our fingers crossed. The winner will be announced after February 10.

Healthy Football League

The Healthy Football League looks to gamify getting active by tying physical activities to fans’ already rampant support of their local football clubs. This mobile app tackles obesity, inactivity, and social isolation by awarding points to users when they walk, run, or cycle. However, these points are not just accrued on a personal level. Instead, it also becomes part of a giant tally tied to the users supported football club, essentially turning exercising into a giant club supporting competition. These points are calculated using the users BMI, steps, calories burned, and distance covered. A club can be crowned the overall combined victor, and top performing individuals also receive prizes. It is currently being tested with six clubs, and upon launch will be used by over 100 professional football clubs in over 30 countries.
